On Halloween afternoon, October 31st, members of the Warren Rotary Club took part in an extraordinary community tradition: the annual Sensory-Friendly Trunk or Treat. Designed to provide a welcoming, calm, and inclusive environment for children of all sensory needs, the event offered a wonderful opportunity for Rotary to live out our motto of Service Above Self.
Club member Ruby Wiles, and founder of FREE Books for Kidstown, curated the selection, hand-picking a rich variety of engaging, age-appropriate stories tailored to inspire young readers across our community.

Throughout the afternoon, local families stopped by our display to browse the shelves and choose thier own titles to take home. Rotarians had the privilege of connecting directly with parents and children, handing out dozens of books and witnessing firsthand the excitement that a brand-new story can spark.
Fostering youth literacy and ensuring equitable access to learning resources remain core pillars of our club’s service mission, and events like this demonstrate the immediate, tangible impact of our collective efforts.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Heroes for organizing and hosting such a thoughtful, barrier-free celebration for local youth, and a special thank you to Ruby Wiles for curating the books. To all the Rotarians and volunteers who gave their time to support the event: thank you for helping us turn Halloween treats into lasting treasures.
