THE ROTARY FOUNDATION CITATION FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE

RUZHDI BAKALLI

HAS BEEN AWARDED TO PDG RUZHDI BAKALLI.

The Citation for Meritorious Service recognizes individual Rotarians who have demonstrated OUTSTANDING ACTIVE SERVICE to The Rotary Foundation for more than one year.

To be considered for this award, Ruzhdi Bakalli has . . . .
• Managed to completion two Global Grant Projects, Telemedicine and Mammography, both in his home country of Kosova.
• Managing a current Global Grant Project to purchase a DEXA Scanner for Kosova with the Rotary Club of Sturbridge from District 7910 in central Massachusetts. For those of you who do not know what a DEXA Scanner is, it measures bone density.
• During his year as District Governor he broke all Foundation Fundraising records for District 7280 and the Warren Rotary Club.

Earlier this year on April 1st, Ruzhdi was awarded the “Service Above Self” award from Rotary International, one of only 75 Rotarians throughout the world who received the award in 2017.

It was noted, during the award ceremony, that he was the first Albanian to hold an office at the zone level, the first Albanian to hold the office of District Governor, the founder of Rotary in Kosovo and the first Albanian to receive the Service Above Self award.

Ruzhdi was president of the Warren Rotary Club in 2010-2011, District Governor in 2014-2015 and currently serves at the Zone level.

Ruzhdi is known as the person who brought Rotary to Kosova-Paul Harris of Kosova. He is the founder, charter President, past president and Honorary President for Life of Rotary Club of Gjakova,Honorary President for Life of Gjakova-Qabrati and Keystone-District 7280 and a Lifetime Honorary Member of Rotary Club Prishtina Dardania. He did this while being a full time resident in Warren, PA. Today there are 12 Rotary Clubs in Kosovo, all started since 2000.

Although his actual Rotary Foundation giving was not a criteria for receiving this award, it is worth noting that Ruzhdi is a Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Paul Harris Society, and a Major Donor which means he has donated more than $10,000 to the Foundation. He has done all this while putting his three children through college. His youngest Ylli has just graduated from Penn State.

No one that I know of is more deserving of this award.
Ruzhdi, Congratulations!

Harvey Stone- District 7280 Assistant Governor and Secretary of RC Warren.
